In a compelling recent session at MTV Unplugged, kooky Swedish songstress Lykke Li performed songs from her acclaimed new album ‘Wounded Rhymes’, as well as a haunting rendition of ‘Possibility’, a standout from the ‘Twilight: New Moon’ soundtrack. She also opted for a left field cover version in ‘Velvet’, which originated with British alt-rockers The Big Pink. “I really relate to the lyrics,” Lykke said of the song, “and felt that there was a power ballad somewhere in there, so I decided to bring it out.” Get an earful of Lykke’s interpretation of ‘Velvet’ over on the MTV website.
And if the name The Big Pink rings a bell, it’s because their single ‘Dominoes’ was just sampled by Nicki Minaj on her new track ‘These Girls Fall Like Dominoes’. Recognise it?
