Making-Of Video: Kings Of Leon

Kings Of Leon

In partnership with Kodak cameras, Kings Of Leon gave a lucky troupe of 80 fans unlimited access to the set of their video for ‘Back Down South’, inviting them to shoot and share their DIY footage and photos of the band for a special making-of preview trailer.

In celebration not only of KOL’s dedication to their ever-loving fanbase, but also of the southern regions of their homeland, the clip was filmed on the outskirts of Nashville and features members of the local community.

The action takes place in an intimate outdoor party setting beneath a tree strung with homely lights and lanterns, where guests get to witness what one guy calls a “private show” with their favorite band.

Head to the Kodak Facebook page and click the ‘Like’ button to view the preview, and keep a watch out for the full video which will be premiered on May 31.

Documentary Clip: Kings Of Leon

Kings Of Leon

Sorry, no news yet of any new material from everyone’s favorite southern fried rockers Kings Of Leon. Not even a hint. But the folks over at Vulture Magazine have unearthed the next best thing, having just posted an exclusive clip from KoL’s new tell-all documentary ‘Tahlihina Sky’, plus an in-depth interview with the filmmakers.

This is just a short snippet that doesn’t shed much light on the overall movie, but the Q & A session with the film’s director Stephen C Mitchell and producer Casey McGrath is much more illuminating. McGrath admits that the band took some persuasion with regards to allowing their more sensitive footage to make the final cut: ”Once we started getting our hands on tons of stuff [archival footage], then they’d be like, “Where the hell did you get that?” Some of their initial reactions were, “Nobody can ever see that.” But then we’d talk about it and they’d be like, “Okay, fine.”

First Look: Kings Of Leon documentary

Kings Of Leon

The Tennessee rockers have revealed an exclusive trailer for their upcoming documentary ‘Talihina Sky: The Story Of Kings Of Leon’, which is due to be premiered later this month as part of the Tribeca Film Festival.

The revealing fly-on-the-wall doc depicts the family Followill’s struggle to reconcile the excesses of their rockstar lifestyle with the lasting ties of a religious childhood. Director Stephen C Mitchell describes the film as a “fascinating insight for fans and non-fans about a group of musicians who will never forget their strict Pentecostal upbringing or rough-and-tumble back-country roots.”

So, even if you’re not keen on Kings Of Leon, you might just find this film interesting. Get a taster here: talihinasky.com, which, we should warn you, contains strong language and various rock n’ roll shenanigans.
