First Look: Washed Out

Washed Out

We at Play For Life can’t help but adore the way Georgia native Ernest Green, aka Washed Out, churns out chillwave-style swells of mellow electronica, his debut record ‘Within And Without’ being a standard-bearer for Greene’s many supreme and subtle talents as composer, musician and producer.

‘Amor Fati’, one of the more appealingly pop-directed features of the album, has now been paired with a video to match its expansive grooves and airy, wistful charms. Tracking a young guy as he roams from misty mountaintops to crowded house-parties on a largely lone journey of self-discovery, the visuals represent the song’s message of accepting and embracing one’s destiny, whether good or bad (‘Amor Fati’ is ‘love of fate’ in Latin) to utter perfection, just as a video should. Check it out on Entertainment Weekly’s Music Mix.
